Rose Puchalla

Rose A. Puchalla, 89- year-old resident of Bowlus, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at St. Ottos Care Center in Little Falls.
A Funeral Mass was held Saturday, Dec. 21, at Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, with Father John Odero and Father Greg Mastey officiating. The burial was held in the parish cemetery.
Rose Ann Janey was born March 21, 1924, in Flensburg, to the late Frank and Frances (Witt) Janey. She attended country school in rural Flensburg until the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Peter Puchalla Sept. 20, 1943, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. The couple farmed the Puchalla home farm together. Their farm was designated as a Century Farm. Peter died Aug. 17, 2001. Rose continued living in Bowlus. She was an active member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, The Garden Variety Club and The Little Falls Senior Center. Rose enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, quilting, latch hook rugs, embroidering and was an excellent cook and baker.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, David (Judima) Puchalla of St. Cloud, Daniel (Yvonne) Puchalla of Andover and Raymond (June) Puchalla of Bowlus; daughter, JoAnn Mick of Waite Park; grandchildren, Lori Bardson, Brian Mick, Carmie Mick, Travis Mick, David (Shannon) Puchalla, Jonathon Puchalla, Connie Puchalla, Aaron Puchalla, Nikki Puchalla, April Starry-Puchalla, Rachel (Rod) Michalek, Carie (Brandon) Voges and Adam (Jessica) Puchalla; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter Puchalla in 2001, and a son-in-law, Loren Mick.
