Verdel Pont

Verdel D. Pont, 67- year-old resident of Little Falls, passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dece. 21 at Grace Covenant Church in Little Falls, Pastor Steve Anderson will officiate. Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
Verdel was born in Norfolk, Nebraska, Oct. 4, 1946, to Vernon and Della Pont. Her parents moved to a farm near Little Falls, where she attended a one room school until the ninth grade when she continued her education at the Junior High School and then graduated from Little Falls Senior High School. Verdel was active in 4-H, participating in a variety of projects which introduced her to many of the activities she continued to take part in throughout her life. Verdel enjoyed cooking, baking, food preservation, sewing, especially embroidery, and a variety of crafts. She also enjoyed spending time with family, friends and the neighbors in her apartment building. She would often drive friends and neighbors to appointments or on shopping trips. Religion was very special for her and she really appreciated her church family. Verdel spent many enjoyable hours creating and planning activities for the Sunday School Preschool children who often called her Grandma. She enthusiastically participated in the Christian Singles Fellowship activities. In her younger years, Verdel operated a Child Day Care business. Through the years she also enjoyed interacting with people while selling AVON products.
Verdel is survived by her sisters, Peggy S. (John) Gopaul of Apple Valley and Victoria E. (Sham) Moteelall of Cologne; brothers, Paul M. Pont and Gregory V. Pont, both of Little Falls. Verdel was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Della Pont. Honorary Pallbearers will be Verdels nephews, Brent and David Moteelall, Rory, Reed, Rhett and Reece Gopaul.
