Pederson charged with theft and driving without a license

Charles Robert Pederson, 60, Little Falls, was charged in district court Dec. 23, with one felony count of theft and one gross misdemeanor count of driving after cancellation.

A Morrison County Sheriff’s deputy responded Dec. 21 to a Little Falls used car lot concerning Pederson who had taken a Ford Expedition for a test-drive and never returned.

When contacted by officers, Pederson’s ex-wife said she had been in contact with Pederson and that he had been driving a Ford Expedition.

The vehicle was discovered in a parking lot near Pederson’s residence in Little Falls. He was placed under arrest for theft of a motor vehicle.

According to the criminal complaint, Pederson said he had wanted to buy the vehicle, but had never asked how much it cost. He allegedly admitted he did not have contact with the used car lot after he drove the vehicle off the lot.

Pederson’s driving record showed his driving privileges are currently cancelled and inimical to public safety due to multiple DWI convictions.

If convicted, Pederson faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
