Elsie Karsjens

Obit-Elsie Karsjens-formattedElsie Ann Karsjens, age 78, a resident of Hillman, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Memorial Services were held Thursday, Jan. 2, at the Foley Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Allen Jergenson officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Pine Cemetery at a later date.
Elsie Karsjens was born April 10, 1935, in Cloquet, to James and Grace (Matrious) Wind. She married Edward Karsjens Nov. 1, 1952. Elsie had worked at the Mille Lacs Casino as a slot machine attendant from 1990-1998. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going to garage sales. She was enrolled in the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.
She is survived by her husband, Edward of Hillman; sons and daughters, Don Houle of Lake Lena, Mary (Robert) Meyer of Lino Lakes, Linda Moxness of Forest Lake, Leslie of Hillman, Shirley (Roy) Hillstrom of St. Paul, Kevin of Mankato, Tami Johnson of Milaca and Susan (Ted) Rohloff of Pierz, 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters, Lucille Kuntz of Onamia, Vivian Bruce of Onamia, Alvina Aubele of Lake Lena, Carol Higgins of Sandstone, David Matrious of Lake Lena and Gordon Matrious of Askov.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Ronald Karsjens; grandsons, Joey Karsjens and Steven Karsjens, brother, Robert Matrious and son-in-law, Jack Moxness.
