Alexander Kotzer

obit - Kotzer, AlexanderAlexander (Alex) Kotzer, age 81, of Bowlus, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at the St. Cloud VA Hospital in St. Cloud.
A Funeral Service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at Community Country Church in Holdingford, with the Rev. Gregg Valentine officiating.
Alexander Kotzer was born Dec. 5, 1932, in Elmdale Township, Morrison County, the son of Paul and Sophia (Herzil) Kotzer. He grew up on a farm in Elmdale Township and attended country school. He entered the United State Marines Jan. 8, 1952, and was honorably discharged Feb. 12, 1959. He was united in marriage to Terry Rafferty, Dec. 18, 1953. They lived in a number of places and eventually settled in Minnesota. Alex worked primarily as a truck driver and a farmer. When he turned 62, he retired from truck driving and continued to farm until a year ago. He loved animals, tearing up the lawn with the tractor and was a hard worker. In his later years, he enjoyed socializing at Jordies in Bowlus.
Survivors include his children, Dotzie Kotzer Kohnen of Roscoe, Audrey (Scott) Soltis of Bowlus, Kenny (Kathy) Kotzer of Clear Lake, Phyllis (Pete) Kotzer of St. Cloud, Rick Kotzer of Rogers, David Kotzer of Bowlus, Bill Kotzer of Hackensack, Lori (Kevin) Kotzer Vredenburg of Pequot Lakes, Shirley Kotzer of Willow, Alaska and Daniel (Cathy) Kotzer of Sartell; brother, Donald (Patty) Kotzer of Holdingford; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Terry; children, Glenn Tony Kotzer; grandchild, Tatum Soltis; sisters, Margie Klein, Ruthie Klein and Rosemary Kotzer.
