Jen Lasar, the administrative assistant at the Convention and Visitors’ Bureau (CVB) in Little Falls, was named the Chamber of Commerce’s January Employee of the Month. She has been employed there for eight months.
As administrative assistant, Lasar is in charge of greeting the guests who stop into the CVB. She also answers questions via the telephone.
Lasar assists her boss, Kristina VonBerge, with promoting events and updating social media. She does the bookwork for the CVB, keeps the visitor guide racks full at both the office in Little Falls and the rack in Royalton. She put up the Christmas decorations and has done the shoveling this winter.
“I love my job,” she said. “I love that every day is different. I never know who is going to walk through the front door or call.”
VonBerge said of Lasar, “Jen is a ‘non-stop’ excellent customer-service example. She starts her day with a smile and jumps right into daily tasks. She is creative, artistic and has a passion to make things better. She has a drive to create a ‘great day’ for everyone she talks to, an example of her natural desire to be the best she can, every day.”
Lasar and her husband, Jan, have lived in the Bowlus area for 14 years. They moved there when she transferred with Kohl’s from Blaine to St. Cloud. Jan currently works in Avon.
“We are big in the biking community,” she said. “Jan is the treasurer with the new Camp Ripley/Veterans State Trail committee. We take our vacations with bikes, camping gear and food in tow. Our vacations always turn into adventures.”
Lasar said the two rarely leave Minnesota when they take a vacation, saying there is too much to see right here.
During the winter, when getting on their bikes is out of the question, Lasar and Jan love to cross country ski.
With the CVB working hard to make Little Falls and surrounding communities bike-friendly, Lasar’s job is right up her alley.
“I am flattered and honored to be named the Employee of the Month,” she said.
For becoming the Employee of the Month, Lasar received gift certificates from Broadway Stylists, Cabin Fever, Pizza Ranch and Falls Floral, had her photo taken by Silker Studio and received a cookbook from the St. Gabriel’s Hospital Hospice Program.
