Latina Shanta Mays, 29, Little Falls, was charged Jan. 6, with one felony count of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one misdemeanor count of domestic assault.
On Jan. 4, the Little Falls police responded to a 911 hang-up call. When officers arrived on the scene, the victim was outside. The back of his head was bloody and he told police that Mays had hit him in the head with an alcohol bottle.
Inside the residence, the officers found a bottle of brandy which appeared to have blood on it. The brandy bottle was seized as evidence.
Mays was located and she allegedly had blood on her shirt. According to the criminal complaint, she said she got into a tussle with the victim, but denied hitting him with the bottle.
Based on the evidence, the officers arrested Mays for assault.
If convicted, Mays faces a maximum penalty of seven years in prison and/or a $14,000 fine.
