Loran Peter Czech, 53, Little Falls, was charged Jan. 10 in Morrison County District Court with one felony count of domestic assault by strangulation and one gross misdemeanor count of a subsequent violation of domestic assault.
On Jan. 9, a Little Falls police officer responded to a report of a domestic assault. The victim appeared to have a cut on her lip and red marks and bruising on both her elbows and on her neck.
The victim stated she had been out with Czech, a family member, when they began to argue. The argument continued at home.
Czech allegedly threw the victim to the ground and punched her. The victim said he also choked her during the assault, making it hard to breathe.
Other family members confirmed the victim’s statement.
Czech was later located at another residence in Little Falls and placed under arrest for domestic assault. In his statement, Czech allegedly admitted the two had argued, but he said when they got home, the victim assaulted him.
Czech did not appear to have any injuries and a breath test showed he had an alcohol concentration of 0.165.
An examination of Czech’s criminal history showed he had a prior conviction for violating an order for protection April 21, 2010, in Morrison County.
If convicted, Czech faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine.
