Search warrant yields three arrests in Benton County

Three people were arrested Jan. 15 by the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force when officers conducted a search warrant in Benton County, looking for controlled substances.

Prior to the search, a vehicle was seen leaving the residence in question. It was stopped in the parking lot of the Sauk Rapids Post Office and the driver, identified as Christopher Schuman, 26, Little Falls, was determined to have an outstanding warrant for controlled substance crimes in Morrison County.

Schuman was arrested and transported to the Benton County Jail.

During the search of the residence, Melanie Quick, 19, Willmar, was arrested for outstanding warrants from Todd and Benton counties. She was transported to the Benton County Jail.

Also arrested was Lazaro Diaz, 33, no permanent address, for probable cause charges related to a stabbing several weeks ago in St. Cloud. He was transported to the Stearns County Jail and is being held pending formal charges.

Numerous items associated with the use and sale of methamphetamine, along with an undetermined amount of methamphetamine, were located at the house, along with firearms.

Additional charges resulting from this search warrant are pending.
