Long Prairie home destroyed by chimney fire

A home on Sixth Street Northeast in Long Prairie burned Monday afternoon (Jan. 20), about 3:59 p.m. The Long Prairie Fire Department and Police Department said the fire started in the chimney and spread into the home, while the owner of the residence was away.

The house suffered extensive damage and the family’s pet dog perished in the fire.

The Browerville Fire Department was called for assistance, as was the Todd County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol.
