Girls Basketball: Holdingford overtakes Eden Valley-Watkins, falls to Albany

Holdingford stormed to a 41-18 halftime lead, then held on to knock off host Eden Valley-Watkins (EVW) 62-56, Tuesday.

With the win, the Huskers moved past EVW into second place in the Central Minnesota Conference.

Senior Joelle Ertl wreaked havoc on the Eagles’ defense, scorching them for 33 points that included a 13-of-14 mark from the free-throw line.

Ertl also made eight steals, grabbed seven rebounds and passed out five assists, with senior Sam Maciej providing 14 points and seven rebounds.

Holdingford met up with Class AAA’s fourth-ranked and unbeaten Albany, Jan. 17, falling 53-35 to the visiting Huskies.

Ertl scored 22 points and made 10 steals on the night.
