Nordic Skiing: Little Falls’ Hauer first, Massmann fourth at LF Invite

The Little Falls boys and girls each had a pair of top-10 individual finishers to finish near the top of the leaderboard at its home invite, Tuesday.

Senior Maria Hauer continued her season of dominance with a winning time of 37:02, more than three minutes ahead of the runner-up, as the Flyers took second in the 12-team field.

Little Falls was 10 points behind champion Mora, with a high-stakes rematch set to take place at the Granite Ridge Conference meet in Mora, Tuesday.

Senior Kaitlin Geisenhof joined Hauer in the top 10 with a ninth-place time of 42:44.

Freshman Kendal Hendrickson was close behind in 12th place in 43:33, with sophomore Amelia Kresha placing 23rd in 44:56.

Rounding out the Flyers’ lineup were sophomore Claire Gammon-Deering (45:15), eighth-grader Catherine Zack (46:29), sophomore Hannah Veilette (46:31), eighth-graders Anna McNamara (46:45) and Alice Foote (46:52) and sophomore Elizabeth Becker (47:20).

In the boys race, senior Matt Massmann skied to fifth place in 35:50 and eighth-grader Hunter Zupko took ninth in 37:07 as the Flyers took third overall.

Sophomore Gunner Kleinschmidt (38:20) and junior Hunter Kleinschmidt (38:21) finished back-to-back in 18th and 19th, respectively, trailed by senior John Gottwalt (38:54), junior Ethan Crocker (39:54), freshman Seth Crocker (40:43), sophomore Nathaniel Warnke (41:13), seventh-grader Drew Peterson (42:04) and eighth-grader Nolan Zimny (44:08).

    You can add 7th grader, Drew Peterson to the list of Varsity Skiers. He finished 37th with a time of 42.04, according to the Brainerd Dispatch.
