Grey Eagle man convicted of felony assault

On Jan. 15, the Seventh Judicial District Court of Morrison County convicted Brian Lee Reece, 23, Grey Eagle, of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

On Jan. 20, 2013, Morrison County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault with a firearm in Culdrum Township. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Reece asleep and placed him in handcuffs.

Reece, who smelled of alcohol, admitted to the officers he had been in an argument with the victim and had pointed a loaded gun at her.

The victim told law enforcement Reece came to the residence intoxicated and the two got into an argument. She said he pushed her to the ground, held the gun to her head and said he would blow her brains out.

Another person picked the victim up from the home. That person also took the firearm which was laying in the living room. The gun was later turned over to police.

Reece was sentenced to 36 months in the correctional facility at St. Cloud, stayed for seven years and 180 days in jail with credit for the four days already served. He was fined $585 and given supervised probation for seven years.

Assistant County Attorney Todd Kosovich said the charge of felony making terroristic threats was dismissed because  he pleaded guilty to the charge of second degree assault with a deadly weapon.
