Gary John Christopherson was born in Little Falls to the late Arvid and Merced (Hellickson) Christopherson, March 26, 1955. Gary was a member of First Lutheran Church his entire life. Gary graduated from Little Falls Community High School in 1973, and attended Bemidji State University. In his professional career, Gary was a baker, having started work at Sanitary Bakery while still in high school. It is interesting to note that his last work position was as head baker at Pete and Joys Bakery, the same location as his first job. Gary was also a butcher, working at Hunstigers in St. Cloud and later for grocery chains in South Dakota before moving back to Little Falls. Gary was also a bit of a candlestick maker in his personal life. The light of kindness and generosity was innate within his character. We were all touched by his gentle spirit. Garys droll sense of humor will be remembered and appreciated by all those who knew him. When our Mothers mobility declined, Gary stepped in to be primary caretaker for her. His gesture was greatly appreciated by Mom and the rest of the family. He was especially proud of the lawn at the house. Meticulous care made it look like a golf course. Gary was an avid fisherman and over the years spent good quality time in his boat on the water. He was a successful fisherman as well and family and friends will certainly attest to his skill. Gary had a deep love of reading. His interest lay in non-fiction, primarily the Civil War. He was a source of knowledge we could count on. Gary found joy in music throughout his life. His guitar and amp were always close at hand. Gary was blessed with the gift of making enduring friendships. He was beloved and will be remembered well.
Gary is survived by his siblings, Jeffrey (Meri-Jac), Jill (John Malcolm), Alan (Rebecca) and Peter (Tammy). He was uncle to eight and great-uncle to 12 and very proud of them all. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Arvid in 1977 and his mother, Merced in 2012.
We honor Gary for his presence in our lives and wish him Godspeed to his new home.
