Ice fishing and an old tradition keeps folks warm at Bulldog Lake

Ice-fishing-Lenora-and-AlexiaHoly Family Church, Bulldog Lake, held its annual ice fishing derby and log sawing contest Feb. 8. People of all ages braved the cold to try their hand at ice fishing. Later, they headed indoors to enjoy lunch and check out the log sawing contest. Pictured is a 5-year-old with her Kinship mentor Alexia Cripps. The top fishing derby prize winner was Adam Tilleskjor with the biggest catch of the day — a 2-pound, 3.8-ounce northern pike.

Pictured below ready to try their hand in the log sawing contest are Pierz Healy High School students Shelby Galbreath, left, 17, and Ashlea Wilt, 16. In the back Bob Baniecke, left, and Larry Smude give the girls advice. The girls were the winners in the women’s division, with Stephanie Ziwizki and Ben Keske winning the kids’ division; Janessa and Don Watson winning the mixed division and Jesse and Josh Fussy taking first in the men’s division.
