Central Minnesota Girls Basketball: Holdingford moves into three-way tie for second

Senior Joelle Ertl netted 30 points as Holdingford topped host Kimball Area 61-41 to slide back into a three-way tie for second place in the Central Minnesota Conference, Feb. 7.

Ertl also made eight steals and had five assists.

Senior Jodi Middendorf added 14 points and freshman Jo Merten stepped up with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Ertl scored another 31 points to spark a runaway 63-28 Holdingford win at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, Tuesday, with Middendorf adding 13 points.

 

Bednar, Carter lead Pierz in three games

Senior Bridget Bednar and junior Kayla Carter led Pierz offensively in three games this week.

The Pioneers fell 60-41 to visiting Eden Valley-Watkins (EVW), Feb. 6, 61-53 at Paynesville Area, Feb. 8 and 90-37 at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (HLWW), Tuesday.

Bednar scored 13 points, Carter had 12 and senior Tiara Hopkins recorded nine points and 12 rebounds versus EVW.

Carter finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds against Paynesville, followed  offensively by Bednar with 14 points, junior Kendra Fischer with six, junior Talyre Boser with five and senior Kailey Egan with four.

Hopkins added 16 rebounds.

Bednar led Pierz with 17 points versus HLWW, joined in double figures by Carter with 10.
