Janet E. Ridlon

obit - Ridlon, J.Janet E. Ridlon, 70- year-old resident of Little Falls, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at the Long Prairie Hospital.
A private viewing was held Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel. The memorial gathering will be held Saturday, May 31, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, from 10 a.m. -11 a.m. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls. Janet was born Dec. 21, 1943, to Richard and Elizabeth Post in Torrington, Conn. She met Walter (Bud) Ridlon while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Janet and Walter were married Nov. 14, 1964, at the Center Congregational Church in Torrington, Conn. They moved to Little Falls where they made their home and raised their family on land not far from the family farm where Walter grew up. Janet was an employee for many years at T.O Plastics. She also worked as a Home Interiors representative, at Fingerhut and the Camp Ripley Cafe;. Through her lifetime, Janet enjoyed a number of hobbies. Janet was an accomplished artist and loved to dabble in creative activities. As a child and teenager she was trained to paint in oil painting. While her children were young, she painted on ceramics and helped restore religious figurines at a local church in Little Falls. Recently she had learned how to tole paint and had been experimenting with painting with acrylics on canvas. Janet would often add some beautiful painted details to the wood projects created by Walter. Janet and her daughter Allison spent time riding horses with the Sunset Saddle club. She enjoyed fishing and while she wasnt an avid hunter herself, she loved having people gather at the house for hunting season. Janet participated in bowling leagues at the Little Falls Bowling Center and was a fierce competitive card player with friends and family. Recently she took to experimenting and sharing baked goods and desserts.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, and brother.
Janet is survived by her husband Walter; children Scott (Charlene) Ridlon, Allison (Robert) Feist and Gregg (Dana) Ridlon; grandchildren, Gabrielle Ridlon, Cynda, Patrick, Kerri, Sarah and Alex Feist, Mathea Ridlon and five great-grandchildren.
