No one injured when garage burns in Lakin Township

Although the property owner was home at the time, no one was injured when a detached garage burned in Lakin Township Wednesday, March 5.

The Foley Fire Department responded when a neighbor noticed the fire about 4:15 p.m. at the Christopher Weisz residence at 39806 93rd St., a mile east of Gottwald’s Store.

The garage was completely engulfed in fire when the firefighters arrived and was a total loss. Ten firefighters were on the scene for about 1 1/2 hours. No vehicles were parked inside.

Foley Fire Chief Mark Pappenfus said the cause of the fire is still undetermined and no damage estimate has been determined.
