The Morrison County Ducks Unlimited chapter was recognized Feb. 15, by Minnesota Ducks Unlimited (DU) during the state convention for its annual spring dinner banquet which was sold out, as well as other achievements in 2013.

As 2013 marked the 76th anniversary of Ducks Unlimited conserving wetlands in North America, it marked the ninth year of shallow lake and wetlands conservation in Minnesota through the Living Lakes Conservation Initiative, which achieved a conservation milestone of investing $4,816 million. Overall, DU enhanced, restored or protected 30,414 acres in Minnesota in 2013.

Currently DU is also partnering with the Minnesota DNR to manage outlets of 91 wild rice lakes totaling 25,762 acres. DU currently has 62 projects underway totaling 54,318 acres in Minnesota. The Morrison County DU Chapter was acknowledged at the convention for being ranked the ninth chapter in the state of Minnesota.

In 2014, the county DU chapter has many things planned starting with the 38th annual DU banquet Friday, April 25, at the Falls Ballroom in Little Falls and the third annual Shawn Killeaney/ Morrison County DU golf event Friday, Aug. 15.
