Leroy was born June 13, 1941, at the University Hospital to George and Dorothy (Kulus) Czech. He is the only boy out of nine children. His parents wanted the best for him so at the age of nine he entered into the state hospital system so that he could be taught to do many great things and receive training. In 1997, Leroy moved to Maplewood, a foster home in Randall. Leroy was employed at LEO in Pillager until he retired in 2002. In 2011 Leroy moved to St. Camillus Place where he worked his way into the hearts of many. Leroy enjoyed spending time with the younger residents of St. Camillus Place where he took on a grandfatherly roll with them entertaining and making them laugh. Leroy also opened his hearts to his momma’s which is a term of affection for female staff. He enjoyed sitting down for a good cup of coffee and spending time organizing and straightening the items that were important to him. Leroy enjoyed having bags to place his favorite items in to carry them with him, listening to music and having change to put in his pocket. Leroy spent time enjoying the outdoors and sitting on the back patio. He loved to be in the kitchen when something was being baked and was always willing to taste test.
Leroy is survived by sister Pat (Elmer) Gerads of Columbia Heights, MaryAnn (Bernerd) Musielewicz of New Brighton, Eileen Gerads of Elk River and Connie (John) Wimmer of Paynesville.
He was preceded by father, mother, and sisters, Suzanne, Delores, Adeline and Kathleen.
