Tolin nets winner in Flying Aces finale

Nick Tolin scored a tie-breaking goal two minutes into the third period to give the Minnesota Flying Aces junior hockey team a 4-3 season-ending win at the Twin City Steel, March 8.

The Steel scored the opening goal of the game midway through the first period, before the Aces tied it on a power-play goal from Jake Mullendore 37 seconds prior to the first intermission.

Eric Cruickshank then buried a go-ahead goal just 13 seconds into the second period, with Anthony Martinez putting the Aces ahead 3-1 about six minutes later.

The Steel rallied to tie the score later on in the second, before Tolin’s game-winner in the third.

Jaxson Gosnell stopped 30 shots to earn the win in net.

The Aces fell 4-2 the previous night at Alexandria, March 7, as the Blizzard erased a 2-1 deficit with three goals in the final 4:10 of the contest.

Eric Rogorzenski and Cruickshank scored for the Aces.
