Emma A. Kanieski

Emma A. Kanieski, 96- year-old resident of Little Falls, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, at her residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Sobieski. Friends may visit from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday and from 10-11 A.M. on Thursday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Parish prayers will be held at 5 P.M. on Wednesday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.
Emma was born March 3, 1918, to the late John and Blanche (Klosowski) Wiatrowski in Swan River Township, Morrison County. She was united in marriage to John Kanieski, Nov. 10, 1940, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus. Emma was a lifetime member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Little Falls. She has lived in Little Falls all her life and was currently residing at Highland Senior Living in Little Falls since 2011. Emma was proud to be called a homemaker. Emma enjoyed going to her sons cabin on the lake to have pontoon rides and fish. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Her favorite passion was tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She was very particular about the way her home and yard looked. Emma was greatly loved by her family and will be dearly missed.
Emma is survived by her sons, John (Sue) Kanieski of Cottage Grove and Ronald Kanieski of Little Falls; daughters, Beverly Johnson of Little Falls, Mary (John) Hanson of Swanville and Rita (Paul) Murphy of Houston, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great- grandchildren.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Kanieski; and siblings, Walter Wiatrowski, Clarence Wiatrowski, Leo Wiatrowski, Eleanor Rhodes and Delmore Stodolka.
