MaryLou Nelson, a 73- year-old resident of Little Falls, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, March 18, at First United Church in Little Falls with Pastor Damen Heitmann officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls.
MaryLou Taylor was born Aug 30, 1940, in Little Falls, to the late Andrew and Mary (Bollin) Taylor. She grew up in Randall and then the family moved to Little Falls and she graduated from Little Falls High School in 1958. MaryLou was united in marriage to Robert J. Nelson, Aug. 17, 1963, at First Methodist Church in Little Falls. They continued to live in Little Falls, eventually moving onto a 10 acre hobby farm just out of town. She was known as Grandma to many kids, whom she baby sat at one time or another. MaryLou was very active at First United Church and as a 4-H leader. She enjoyed going out on Ladies Night Out activities and attending her singles group and Rochester Support group. MaryLou kept busy with sewing and gardening, and spending time with her family. One of her greatest passions, was attending garage sales and auctions, and also maintaining a perpetual garage sale at her home.
MaryLou will be dearly missed by her daughters, Sandy (Rick) Marsh of Detroit Lakes and Carla (Gerald) Brenner of Bowlus; son, Kyle Nelson of Little Falls; brother, Fred Taylor of Royalton, MN; sisters, Mavis (Norman) Williams of Duluth and Janet (Jerome, Sr.) Wozniak of Randall; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and brother, Francis Taylor.
Casketbearers were Wayne Brenner, Ethan Meyer, Kenny Nelson, Kevin Nelson, Jerry Wozniak, Jr., Josh Wozniak, Mark Taylor and Andy Taylor.
