Upsala-Swanville Area (USA) had 11 top-10 finishers in its season-opening indoor meet in St. Cloud, March 22, as the smallest of 10 teams competing.
The Patriots girls received a pair of runner-up performances, including senior Amanda Rieffer in the high jump with a height of 4-feet, 8-inches and the 4×200-meter relay team of junior Brooke Westrich, freshman Kendra Lange, eighth-grader Crystal Kaun and junior Danica Cheney in 1:59.54.
The same relay quartet took seventh in the sprint medley relay (2:07.42), Kaun finished eighth in the 200 (30.59) and Westrich was 10th in the 60 (8.83).
In the boys competition, sophomore Ethan McCoy finished seventh in the 400 (59.39) and junior Joey Jensen was eighth in the long jump (17-feet, 1.5-inches) to lead USA.
Placing ninth were sophomore Tim Valencia-Louden in the high jump (5-feet, 4-inches) and the sprint medley relay team of Jensen, junior Dylan Wudinich, Valencia-Louden and freshman Matt Koetter (1:58.76), and placing 10th were senior Dylan Zimmerman in the high jump (5-feet, 2-inches) and the 4×200 relay team of freshman Amando Perales, sophomore Dunkin Westrich, Koetter and McCoy (1:48.61).
