Local Board of Appeals and Equalization meetings set

The Morrison County Assessor’s Office has announced that the Local Boards of Appeal and Equalization will start Monday, April 14. The purpose of these meetings is to determine whether taxable property in a jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the county assessor and to determine whether corrections need to be made.

The schedule is:

• Monday, April 14: 9 a.m. for Culdrum Township at the Town Hall; 10:30 a.m. for Flensburg City (open book) at the City Hall; 1 p.m. for Pike Creek Township at the Town Hall.

• Tuesday, April 15: 8:30 a.m. for Sobieski City at the Sobieski Community Center; 10 a.m. for Swan River Township at the Town Hall; 1 p.m. for Swanville Township at the Swanville Fire Hall; 2 p.m. for Swanville City at the Swanville Senior Center.

• Wednesday, April 16: 9 a.m. for Buckman Township at St. Michael’s Parish Center; 11 a.m. for Buckman City at the City Hall; 1 p.m. for Agram Township at the Town Hall.

• Thursday, April 17: 9 a.m. for Platte Township at the Town Hall; 11 a.m. for Harding City at the Harding Community Center; 1 p.m. for Pulaski Township at the Town Hall.

• Monday, April 21: 8:30 a.m. for Two Rivers Township at the Bowlus Fire Hall; 10 a.m. for Bowlus City at the Bowlus Fire Hall; 1 p.m. for Upsala City at the Upsala Fire Hall.

• Tuesday, April 22: 9 a.m. for Lastrup City at the City Hall; 11 a.m. for Buh Township at the Town Hall; 1 p.m. for Granite Township at the Town Hall.

• Wednesday, April 23: 9 a.m. for Mount Morris Township at the Town Hall; 11 a.m. for Lakin Township at the Town Hall; 1 p.m. for Morrill Township at the Town Hall; 3 p.m. for Hillman Township at Loren Tomala’s home.

• Thursday, April 24: 9 a.m. for Little Falls City at the City Hall; 1 p.m. for Little Falls Township at the Town Hall.

• Friday, April 25: 9 a.m. for Motley Township at the Town Hall; 10:30 a.m. for Rosing Township at the Pillager Fire Hall; 1 p.m. for Motley City at the City Hall.

• Monday, April 28: 9 a.m. for Scandia Valley Township at the Town Hall;

• Tuesday, April 29: 9 a.m. for Cushing Township at the Town Hall; 11 a.m. for Parker Township at the Town Hall.

• Wednesday, April 30: 9:30 a.m. for Genola City at the City Hall; 11 a.m. for Pierz Township at the Pierz City Hall; 1 p.m. for Pierz City at the City Hall.

• Thursday, May 1: 9 a.m. for Bellevue Township at the Town Hall; 11 a.m. for Royalton City at the City Hall.

• Friday, May 2: 11 a.m. for Leigh Township at the Hillman Legion and for Hillman City (open book) at the City Hall; 1 p.m. for Richardson Township at the Town Hall.

• Monday, May 5: 9 a.m. for Belle Prairie Township at the Town Hall; 11 a.m. for Ripley Township at the Town Hall.

• Tuesday, May 6: 9 a.m. for Elmdale City at the City Hall; 11 a.m. for Elmdale Township at the Town Hall.

• Wednesday, May 7: 9 a.m. for Randall City at the Randall Fire Hall; 11 a.m. for Green Prairie Township at the Town Hall; 1 p.m. for Darling Township at the Town Hall.

• Tuesday, June 17: County Board of Appeal and Equalization starting at 5 p.m. at the board room in the Morrison County Government Center, Little Falls.

Property owners who believe the value or classification of their property is incorrect, are asked to contact the Morrison County Assessor’s Office to discuss their concerns with a county appraiser. If still not satisfied with the valuation or classification after discussing it with the appraisers, a property owner may make an appointment to appear at the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization. Appointments can be made by contacting the Morrison County Assessor’s Office at (320) 632-0101 or toll free at 1 (866) 401-1111, ext. 101.

Anyone who wishes to make an appeal may do so in person, by letter or have a representative appear for them. Per state law, a property owner must appeal to the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization before they can appeal to the County Board of Appeal and Equalization. Questions regarding the Boards can be directed to the Assessor’s Office at the above numbers.

The Morrison County Assessor’s Office hours are Monday – Friday, from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The assessor’s office is located on the lower level of the Morrison County Government Center, at 213 First Ave. S.E., Little Falls.
