Youth will be the name of the game across the area golf scene this spring, with upperclassmen few and far between.
That will be especially true for the Pierz boys squad, which will not only employ a young roster, but will do so while having to compensate for the loss of last year’s Central Minnesota Conference champion Dustin Herold.
“It’s never easy to lose a golfer like Dustin Herold,” Pierz head coach Chris Dobis said. “He was very consistent for us all last year. The hope is that everybody returning improves upon their scoring average from last season.”
Pierz does bring back three varsity players, juniors Ethan Lochner and Josh Rocheleau and freshman Nathan Poster, but after that will feature many new faces.
“Many of the kids are new to the game of golf,” Dobis said. “We will start with the basics and see where that takes us.”
