While Pierz will compete without the experience of any seniors this spring, it won’t be lacking for some star power.

Junior Jessica Hawks has consistently put herself near the top of the leaderboard in previous seasons, being rewarded last year with All-Central Minnesota Conference honors. This year, she’s looking to take her game to an even higher level.

“Jessica Hawks is a very dedicated and determined golfer,” Pierz head coach Jessica LeBlanc said. “She golfs all summer long and every weekend during the season. Her commitment and work ethic make her as good as she is. I expect her to be a contender for conference champion and she hopes to make it to the state tournament this year.”

Other returning varsity players include juniors Miranda Robertsdahl and Sam Smith, sophomore Kayla Wacker and freshman Brittany Talberg. New players looking to step in and contribute are junior Isabelle Kohl and freshman Breanna Hopkins.

In addition to having some players attain individual success, LeBlanc believes this year’s group can be competitive stacked up against Central Minnesota Conference foes.

“Our goal is to finish in the top four in the conference this year,” she said. “I expect them to each work hard and strive to improve their scores throughout the season.”
