Rose M. Binstock, 94 year-old-resident of Little Falls passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Country Manor in Sartell.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, April 14, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial was in St. Marys parish cemetery in Little Falls.
Rose was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Dickinson, N.D. to the late Sebastian and Anna (Klein) Frank. She was raised on the family farm, 15 miles south of Dickinson. She attended school in Schefield, N.D. through the 10th grade as she was needed at home to help with the family and chores. In 1936, her sister Monica and her went to Winona and worked at St. Marys College for several years. On June 7, 1939, Rose was united in marriage to Valentine Binstock in Dickinson, where they farmed in the Badlands area near South Heart. Rose and Val had five children; four boys and one girl; Marvin, Rosemary, LeRoy, Duane and Terry. They moved to South Heart, where they operated a grocery store and later moved to Little Falls in 1950 where they farmed for two years. Rose worked at the Sanitary Bakery for a short time and then as a nurses aid at St. Gabriels Hospital in Little Falls for 20 years before retiring. After Val died in 1990, she stayed in Little Falls until 1999, when she had her first stroke. Her children moved her to Country Manor Health Center in 2000 to an apartment and she remained there until she was moved into the nursing room, where she died. Rose was a faithful member of St. Marys Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, gardening, playing cards and most of all, her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a woman of many abilities and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by, sons, Marvin (Elaine) Binstock of St. Cloud, LeRoy (Bernie) Binstock of Coon Rapids and Duane Binstock of Sioux Falls, S.D.; brother, Christ (Lorraine) Frank of Dickinson, N.D.; sisters-in-law, Margaret Frank, Martha Frank and Emma Illich all of Dickinson, N.D.; and six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Rose is preceded in death by husband Val; infant children, Terry and Rosemary; parents, Sebastian and Ann Frank; brothers, John, Steve, Frank, Tony and Joseph Frank; sisters, Monica Tatreau, Magdalen Barth, Clementine Huschka, Sr. Mary Piona OND, and Margaret Wanner.
