Jesse Knopik, 32, Fort Ripley, was arrested in Benton County on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of heroin.
On April 24, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Benton County Sheriff’s Office received a driving complaint. The caller reported a vehicle had disobeyed two stop signs while driving westbound on County Road 13.
The caller said that the vehicle also crashed into some trees, returned to the road and began traveling eastbound.
A Benton County deputy found the vehicle driving erratically. He stopped it and made contact with Knopik. The deputy allegedly noted Knopik appeared to be impaired and field sobriety tests were performed. They allegedly indicated Knopik was under the influence of controlled substances.
Knopik was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
According to the criminal complaint, a search of Knopik’s vehicle resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia and a substance which field-tested positive for heroin.
Knopik is currently being held in the Benton County Jail awaiting his first court appearance on charges of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the arrest by the Minnesota State Patrol.
