Public Works Administrator Bob Otremba told the Pierz City Council that 14 garden plots were available for rent this year at $30 each.
Otremba said the city would till the soil and water was available on the site.
The lots are located near Horizon Health and are 25-feet by 25-feet in size.
Anyone wishing to rent a lot should contact City Hall at (320) 468-6471.
Otremba also gave a snow plow summary which showed in all categories the past season’s statistics were the highest for the past seven years.
There were seven snow removals. A total of $5,957.50 was paid to the Minnesota Department of Transportation and $3,999 to Saehr Backhoe for removal services.
The city applied 60.5 yards of salt/sand mix for ice control.
The department spent 335 hours plowing snow, putting 2,647 miles on the snow plow the 28 times plowing was needed.
Snow total for the city was 88 inches.
Pierz City Council Briefs
Other business that came before the Pierz City Council Monday, included:
• Hearing there were a number of people interested in purchasing the remaining three lots in the industrial park. The Council will hold a meeting Monday, at 6 p.m. to discuss stipulations and use of the lots;
• Agreeing to donate $2,000 to the Oktoberfest Committee to help offset the approximate $11,000 cost of putting on the celebration; and
• Tabling action on a verbal request for a $2,000 donation to purchase fireworks for Oktoberfest. The Council said it needed something in writing before it would take any action.
The next regular meeting of the Pierz City Council Monday, May 12, at 7 p.m.
