Ruth Laidlaw

Ruth Feucht Laidlaw, 90, of La Habra, California, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2014.
Private Family Services will be held at Calvary Chapel of Downey, California.
Ruth was born September 2, 1923 on a farm in Granite Township near Pierz, Minnesota, to Tom and Gertrude (Nohner) Feucht. After graduating from Little Falls High School in 1941, Ruth attended Teacher Training School and taught in one-room schoolhouses at Bowlus and Genola, Minnesota. In 1944 she served in the US Navy as a Wave and was stationed at the Naval Supply Depot in Philadelphia. Following World War II, Ruth attended Iowa State University where she graduated with a B.S. in Home Economics. She later became an Associate College Professor.
In 1949, Ruth moved to California where she met and married Robert Laidlaw on December 18, 1949. The couple had two children. In 1964 Ruth began teaching at Cerritos College in Norwalk, California. She retired in 1986 after 40 years of teaching at various levels, from a one-room schoolhouse to high school and college. During her retirement years, Ruth was active in the Crystal Cathedral Church of Garden Grove where she was a member and served as a volunteer docent.
Ruth is survived by her children, Roberta Laidlaw Schneider and husband, David, of St. Joseph, Minnesota and Tom Laidlaw and wife, Anita, of La Habra, California; grandchildren, Alysia, Aaron, Moriah and Zechariah; and brother, Justin Feucht, of Anaheim, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her sister, Ellen Feucht McDonald, of Pierz, Minnesota.
