Deborah Lee Vance was born June 26, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Lawrence and Donna Vance. She passed from this life Oct. 29, 2013, in Florida. Memorial services will be held May 20, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley.
Debi worked with horses prior to becoming a Seabee with the U.S. Navy working with heavy equipment and cranes. She also worked at Helena Chemical and for the Royalton School District as a bus driver.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence; and son, Cpl. Anthony (Tony) (Ant) McElveen, USMC; both maternal and paternal grandparents; Uncle “Charlie,” Charles Whitman; and cousin, “Babby Kenny” Kenneth L. Northway, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas McElveen of Minnesota and Florida; daughters, Tina McElveen and Crystal Parker of Minnesota; mother, Donna Vance of Florida; brother, Lawrence Lee Vance Jr. of Minnesota and Florida; sister, Diana Vance of Minnesota; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
