Little Falls announces its top 10 students of 2014

Little-Falls-Honor-StudentsThe Little Falls Community High School (LFCHS) announced the top 10 students in the Class of 2014.

Listed in alphabetical order, they include:

Jessica Durfee, daughter of Rachel and Brad Durfee, will graduate with a 3.992 grade point average (gpa). During her high school career, Durfee was involved in tennis, Knowledge Bowl, Key Club, Student Council Target, Link, Girl Scouts, the Economic Challenge, Math League, the Personal Finance Decathlon and a member of the National Honor Society (NHS). She plans to attend the University of Minnesota.

Brooke Finch is the daughter of David and Tara Finch and has earned a 4.0 gpa. Finch was involved in basketball, volleyball, Math League, the spring musical, NHS and Link during her high school career. She plans to attend the University of St. Thomas to major in neuroscience.

Kaitlin Geisenhof, the daughter of Richard and Gwen Geisenhof, has earned a 4.0 gpa. During high school, she participated in cross country, Link, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Nordic skiing, Key Club, Math League and NHS. She plans to attend the College of St. Benedict.

Vanessa Meschke is the daughter of Ross and Sharon Meschke and earned a 4.0 gpa. During her high school career, she participated in the Economic Challenge, Personal Finance Challenge, cross country, track and field, Knowledge Bowl, Key Club, Link Crew, band, jazz band, Math League, Girl Scouts, NHS and the brass quintet. She plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – Madison to pursue a degree in engineering.

Laura Moe, the daughter of Dan and Jeanne Moe, will graduate with a 4.0 gpa. During high school, she was involved in cross country, basketball, track and field, Math League, FCA, Key Club and NHS. She plans to attend the College of St. Scholastica and run cross country at the college. She will major in biochemistry.

Jennifer Ronning is the daughter of Rob and Lori Ronning and has earned a 3.959 gpa. During high school, she participated in volleyball, basketball, Link, Target and NHS. She was on the Homecoming and Prom Committees, was the boys’ basketball manager and a Vacation Bible School leader. Ronning will attend Concordia College in Moorhead.

Jack Schulte, the son of Brent and Julie Schulte, will graduate with a 3.992 gpa. During high school he was involved in hockey, Boy Scouts and the Economics Challenge. He plans to attend Montana State University for mechanical engineering.

Sebastian Sowada, son of Gary Sowada and Mary Sowada, has earned a 3.98 gpa. During his high school career, Sowada was involved in cross country, basketball, track and field and band. He will attend St. Cloud State University to major in applied statistics and plans to run cross country and track and field.

Alyssa Thompson is the daughter of Keith and Darla Thompson and will graduate with a 3.968 gpa. During high school she was involved in band, Target, FCA, Prom Committee, Honors Band, FCA Synergy, youth group and youth worship team, was a member of the NHS and worked at Domino’s. This fall, Thompson plans to attend North Central University with a major in youth ministry.

Tristen Zimmerman, the daughter of Tonya Zimmerman, earned a 4.0 gpa. During her high school career, Zimmerman was involved in volleyball, softball, NHS, Target, DECA, Flyer Athletic Leadership Council, FCA, Link Crew, Olympic weightlifting and Drama Club. She was the boys’ basketball manager and a youth group leader at Alliance Church. She plans to attend Bethel University to play volleyball and will major in molecular biology/biochemistry and third world studies. She plans to minor in history.

Graduation ceremonies for the Little Falls Community High School Class of 2014 will take place Sunday, May 25, at 2 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.
