Volleyball tourney to raise funds for breast cancer event

Volleyball-for-breast-cancer-logoA 12 team co-ed volleyball tournament is planned at the Red Rooster in Genola, Saturday, June 28, beginning at 9 a.m. A minimum of three matches is guaranteed and the fee includes a T-shirt. Concessions will be available for purchase outside with beverages available inside the bar.

The tournament is a fundraiser, called “I’d Hit That for Cure,” for Amanda (Tschida) Schirmers and Angela (Neuberger) Tschida, who are participating in the 2014 Susan G. Komen 3-Day, 60-mile Walk for the Cure. Between the two of them, they must raise $4,600.

The women are mothers to little girls and have lost an aunt to breast cancer. “We never want our girls to go through what we witnessed with Judy,” said Schirmers.

Teams of six that register by June 1, will pay a lower, earlybird fee.
