The Morrison County Commissioners approved unanimously the permit for the Pierz Freedom Fest to be held Saturday, July 19, at the Genola ball field just south of Pierz.
According to information presented by Pierz City Administrator Scott Saehr and Police Chief Eric Hanneken on behalf of the Pierz Commercial Club, the maximum number of people allowed into the event is capped at 5,500 for safety purposes.
Gates open for the concert event at 3 p.m. and will close at midnight. Food vendors will be on site.
Camping will be allowed. The Commercial Club has hired a private security firm for the length of the event.
Morrison County Board Briefs
Other business that came before the commissioners Tuesday, included:
•Approving a tax abatement on property that had been incorrectly classified by the assessors office;
•Authorizing a 2014 solid waste hauler license for Viet Inc.;
•Approving the annual renewal of liquor licenses for various business in the county;
•Approving the renewal applications for Morrill Bar and Grill and 12 Mile Tavern for 2 a.m. closing time;
•Approving a precious metal dealer license for Chester Nelson for Like-Nu Gun and Pawn;
•Appointing Tina Snell to the Morrison County Extension Committee representing District One and Norman Siekman as the member at large; and
•Scheduling a special board meeting Tuesday, June 10, to discuss pending litigation.
The next regular Morrison County Board meeting will be held June 17.
