Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz for Irene A. Gottwalt, age 93, who passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Country Manor Health Care Center in Sartell. Fr. Al Stangl will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church in Pierz. Parish prayers will be 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.
Irene was born Nov. 18, 1920 in Langola Township to Fred and Gertrude (Zuleger) Doble. She married Lawrence Gottwalt on Oct. 16, 1945 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rice. Irene was homemaker and also managed the Sanitary Bakery in Pierz for 28 years. She attended Mass at Country Manor Chapel and was a former member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz. Irene enjoyed crocheting, fancy work, embroidery, ceramics, canning, sewing, flower gardening, bowling, playing cards, traveling, and shopping.
Survivors include her daughters, Jeanette (Edward) Stack of St. Cloud and Karen (Simon) Schloe of St. Cloud; sisters and brothers, Lorraine Susie Meadows of Portland, OR, Eugene Doble of Royalton, Doreen Miller of Coon Rapids, Raymond Doble of New Brighton, Alice Burggraff of Little Falls, Betty Berg of Willmar, and Eleanor Mickey Rudolph of St. Paul; grandchildren, Ryan (Briana), Rachel (Shane), Eric (Lorianne), Nathan (Sara), Brent (Heidi), Sarah (Mark), Scott (Steve), Tara (Joe), and Reed (Amanda); and 13 great grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence on Feb. 17, 1990; daughter, Judi Young on June 15, 2012; sister, Donna Mae Stromwall; and brothers, Adrian and Donald Doble.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Country Manor Campus, Country Manor Chapel or St. Croix Hospice.
