James Stewart Newcomb, 88, of Zimmerman, died June 14, 2014, at Elim Home in Princeton. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 20, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Randall. Family and friends are invited to gather Thursday evening at the funeral chapel from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley at Noon.

James was born April 2, 1926, in Darling Township near Randall, the son of Herman and Louella (Pierce) Newcomb. After school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during W.W. II. On May 13, 1949, he married Dorothy G. Andres.

He is survived by his children, Diana (Les) Murray of Zimmerman, Douglas (Gayle) Newcomb of Zimmerman, Jody (Jerry) Wiltsey of Princeton, James (Deb) Newcomb, Jr. of Denver, Colo., Jannita Jan Newcomb, of Cedar, and Patricia Patty (Dan) Gardas of Elk River; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Marie Kachevas of Monticello, Floyd Newcomb of Randall, Velda Brown of Browerville, Bonnie Gatzke of Prior Lake, Shirley Havrilak of Randall, Richard Newcomb of Browerville and Jane Ebertowski of Mesa, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Steven and Lester; parents; and brother, Donald Newcomb.
