Geraldine E. Larson, 92-year-old resident of Gardnerville, Nev., formerly of Royalton, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Emeritus Senior Living in Gardenville, Nev. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, at the Stanchfield Baptist Church in Stanchfield, with the Rev. Bill Mars officiating. Burial took place in the Stanchfield Baptist Cemetery.
Geraldine was born Aug 4, 1921, to the late Reginald (Ted) and Nea Young Waller. She grew up and attended school in Hinckley, where she graduated from Hinckley High School. Geraldine attended the Presbyterian Church in Hinckley with her family. After high school she attended teachers training for one year and upon completion she began teaching in various country schools.
She continued her education at St Cloud State Teachers College, attaining her 5th year credential. She was united in marriage to Woodrow (Woody) Larson, April 5, 1946, in St Paul.
The couple owned and operated a grocery store in Osakis, from 1947 to 1948. Together they bought a farm on Maple Ridge in Isanti County, where Gerry continued to teach at the elementary level. In 1960 they traded the farm for a meat market in Little Falls, and named it Woodys Meat Market. Gerry then began teaching at the Elementary School in Royalton, later moving to remedial reading for a total of 20 years in the Royalton Schools. She was a member of the Stanchfield Baptist Church and Little Falls Baptist Church. In her retirement she supported Woody and son, Gene in their car business. She faithfully cared for Woody when his health failed at the end of his life. Gerry loved her family and was an influence for good in their lives. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Gerry is survived by son, Reg Larson; grandchildren, Erick and Cassie (Larson) Elliott, Justus Larson, Jordan and Taylor Larson, and Lane Larson; and brother, Paul and Eva Waller
Gerry was preceded in death by husband, Woodrow Larson; parents, Reginald and Nea Waller; stepmother, Hazel Waller; and son, Gerald Eugene Larson.
