County Road 2 in Rice closes overnight July 1

Detour directs motorists to County Road 40

Motorists travelling in Rice may encounter delays as County Road 2 between County Road 21/25th Avenue Northeast and westbound Highway 10 closes beginning at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 1.

All lanes of County Road 2 will open by 6 a.m., Wednesday, July 2.

Signed detours will direct motorists to access Highway 10 and businesses in Rice using Highway 10, County Road 40 and County Road 21.

All lanes of Highway 10 in Rice will remain open and shifted to their narrowed, temporary lanes with a reduced 55 mph speed limit.

The closures are needed while crews place beams for the future Highway 10 bridges spanning County Road 2. The bridges are part of the Highway 10/County Road 2 interchange project in Rice.

When complete in November 2014, the new Highway 10/County Road 2 interchange will improve safety, traffic flow and efficiency of the local transportation system by replacing the existing Highway 10/County Road 2 intersection with an interchange. The new interchange’s unique design also reduces project costs while minimizing impacts on the local road system.
