On Sunday, July 6, hundreds will flock to Bowlus for Bowlus Fun Day. The all-day event, sponsored by both the Bowlus Fire and Rescue and the Bowlus First Response teams, will have something for everyone.
A 5-K walk-run kicks the celebration off at 8:30 a.m. at the City Park, followed by a 1K fun walk/run.
An outdoor Mass at 10 a.m. will be held on the grounds of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, with music by “Nathan’s Old Time Band.” The parade on Main Street, which some say is the best in Central Minnesota, follows at 11:15 a.m.
After the parade, for 12 full hours of fun (noon – midnight), visitors can enjoy continuous music, dancing, food, ice cream, snacks, kids’ games, horse rides, Bowlus Fun Line rides, bingo, pull tabs, refreshments and more, in the Bowlus City Park.
Music will be provided by “Nathan’s Old Time Band” from noon – 4 p.m., and “Loss 4 Words” takes over from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m., all in the covered band shell at the City Park.
Area fire departments will cool each other off with water fights, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The grand raffle drawing is held promptly at 9 p.m., with a fireworks display beginning at dusk.
Proceeds from Bowlus Fun Day will be used to build an addition to the Bowlus Fire Hall.
Bowlus is located on Highway 26, five miles west of Royalton, or 10 miles south of Little Falls on Highway 238.
