As of the first of July, RadioShack in Little Falls, Fergus Falls, Morris, Ortonville, Milbank, S.D. and Sisseton, S.D. were sold. Former owner Jim and Carol Andres sold the properties to their two sons, Steve and Eric.
“I want to see the younger generation get more involved,” Jim said. “My goal is to move on to other endeavors.”
Carol will continue with the business in her area of expertise: as controller for all the stores.
Steve will see to the day- to-day operations of the six stores, work with the employees and be in charge of the finances. Brother Eric’s job will be overseeing the services that RadioShack provides. That includes home security, home and business surveillance, custom installations of televisions, appliances, video and audio equipment and more.
Both Steve and Eric agree they will be increasing the service-related side of RadioShack in both electronics and appliance repair.
“That is what sets us apart from other companies,” said Steve. “That and our customer relations. We will continue to establish ourselves as a relevant, local business operating under a corporate name.”
Both Steve and Eric worked at the family business while in school; Steve from when his father purchased it in 2001 and Eric through high school beginning in 2011.
Steve is married to Kristin and they have three children: Brecken, 5, Kaven, 3, and Carsten, 10 months.
Steve has a degree in business administration and Kristen works with Mid-State.
Eric is married to Steph and they have one child, Keagen, 2 months. He graduated from North Dakota State University with degrees in both business management and technology. Steph teaches math at the Little Falls High School.
