To the Editor:
I met Shawn Larsen the summer of 1999 when he started to work for the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office.
Shawn spent many hours with me as a ride-along officer during the final two years of my career. I got to know him very well. I was impressed with his capabilities. He is a straight-forward person who walks tall amongst his fellow officers.
Shawn has worked as a dispatcher, correctional officer, bailiff, water patrol officer, transport officer and patrol deputy. Since then, he was assigned to the Central Minnesota Drug and Gang Task Force, where he investigated narcotic crimes.
Eight years ago, Shawn was promoted to patrol sergeant. He is also the current firearms, use of force, taser and ground fighting instructor. He also supervises the deputies and is the CIRT team commander. Becoming the next sheriff of Morrison County is the next logical step for Shawn.
I have stayed in touch with Shawn since my retirement. His accomplishments within the Sheriff’s Department, and also within his community, are not at all surprising to me.
The citizens of Morrison County can be confident in Shawn’s abilities and should support him in his quest to become the next sheriff. — Bob Waltman, Little Falls
