North Star Brass quintet to perform at Staples Music in the Park

The 34th Infantry Division “Red Bull” Band’s North Star Brass Quintet will perform at Music in the Park Series in Staples Sunday, Aug.10, at 7 p.m.

Expect to hear a variety of army ceremonial music, classic patriotic tunes and well-known jazz standards.

The North Star Brass Quintet is one of eight music performance teams that are part of the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division Band, under the direction of Chief Warrant Officer David Stordalen, band master and commander. Other performance teams include a marching band, two rock-combo bands, country band, saxophone quintet and a ceremonial band.

The 34th Red Bull Band is a Minnesota Army National Guard element stationed in Rosemount. The Red Bull Band plays a varied repertoire of music for Minnesota National Guard ceremonies and events. The band features talented musicians that are trained as both performers and soldiers. The band deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009, performing 450 times and traveling more than 70,000 miles.

“We’re proud to be the goodwill liaison for the Minnesota National Guard and the citizens of Minnesota,” said Chief Warrant Officer Stordalen.

The Music in the Park Concerts are held in the Northern Pacific Park on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. and will run through Aug. 17.

Northern Pacific Park is located at 625 Sixth Street SE. In case of rain, the concerts will be moved to Faith Lutheran Church.
