Today, Aug. 12, last day to file for municipal and school board seats
Today is the last day to file for a municipal or school board seat. Those who have been reported as filing to date for a seat on a City Council within Morrison County are listed below. The list will be completed Aug. 13, as cities and school districts report their filings.
Little Falls: Incumbents Mayor Cathy VanRisseghem and Council Members Don Klinker (Ward 2), Jeremy Hanfler (Ward 3) and Lee Ann Doucette (Ward 1). Current Council Member Greg Zylka has filed for the office of mayor, as has resident Robin Hensel. Other residents filing for a seat on the Council include Leif Hanson (Ward 1), Wayne Liljegren (Ward 2), Theresa Skorseth (Ward 2) and Urban Otremba and Tim Schmidt filed for the Council Member at Large seat. Today, incumbent Council Member at Large Brian-Paul Crowder filed for re-election and Brad Hircock threw his hat into the ring for Council Member at Large.
In Royalton, incumbent Mayor Andrea Lauer has filed for re-election, as has Council Member Scott Walberg. Kelly Warzecha has filed for a Council seat as well.
In Pierz, Mark Dzieweczynski and Rick Sczublewski and incumbents Stephanie Fyten and Mike Menden each filed for a Council seat. Incumbent Mayor Toby Egan filed for re-election and will be challenged by Dennis Kahlhamer who filed for the mayoral seat.
In Randall, Jerry Adamski filed for re-election to his council seat.
In Swanville, incumbent Mayor Sandy Peterson and incumbent Council Member Jim Molitor have filed for re-election and Jay Bartkowicz filed for a Council seat.
Those filing for a seat on area school boards include:
Royalton incumbents Jeff Swenson, Dale Lenz and Jim Block have filed for re-election. Newcomers Randy Hackett and Heather Harren have also filed. Royalton has four seats open, three for four-year terms and one for two years, as Jeff Swenson was appointed by the board for a two-year term.
In Little Falls School District 482 three board members are eligible for re-election — Sharon Ballou, Mark Gerbi and Brad Laager. Those who have filed as of this morning include all three incumbents and Sandi Stalmer.
In the Pierz School District, incumbents Colleen Seelen, Patty Stangl and Dean Virnig filed for re-election.
The Upsala School District reported incumbent Dean Peterson has filed for re-election. Newcomers Ryan Thomas and Trevor Soltis have filed for a school board seat.
In Swanville, the seats held by Jay Loven, Todd Jackson and Rick Gutormson expire in January 2015. Incumbents Jay Loven and Todd Jackson filed for re-election, but Gutormson did not.
The filing period remains open until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12. Candidates have until Aug. 14 to withdraw.
