Annual Rural Wellness Conference planned in Little Falls

The second annual Rural Wellness Conference will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at Grace Covenant Church. The event, “Diversity in Wellness-Recovery Outside the Box,” will run from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Keynote speakers include David Hartford, Care Center director of behavior health services at CentraCare Health, St. Cloud; Maureen Marrin, Ombudsman Peer Services and an ombudsman for mental health and developmental disabilities.

Breakfast sessions will be held on alternative health, including “baby blues” – identifying and treating postpartum depression; “Doodlethon” – healing through the arts; emotional release – processes to free the bonds of past pain; “Outside the Lines” – the journey from poverty, neglect and abuse to social worker; Mason the “service dog” who supports his master through war-related post traumatic stress disorder; elder abuse – warnings, signs and risk factors; spiritual healing through music; new developments in vocational opportunities for people with mental health barriers and more.
