Prairie Volleyball: Upsala makes quick work of Onamia

Upsala breezed past host Onamia in Tuesday’s season opener, sweeping the Panthers 25-11, 25-21, 25-19.

Senior Kristin Wuebkers turned in a solid all-around night to guide the Cardinals, collecting 18 assists, nine aces and five digs.

Senior Danica Cheney and sophomore Katlin Welinski each provided eight kills and senior Brooke Westrich and junior Kiley Smieja totalled four apiece, with senior Mariah Prokott recording a team-high 10 digs.


Swanville blasts Isle

Senior Danica Hanson slammed 11 kills and boosted Swanville’s defense with 10 digs in a 25-18, 25-11, 25-23 sweep over visiting Isle in Tuesday’s season opener.

Senior Stephanie Koetter was the next leading hitter with eight kills and also made seven digs.

Senior Simone Grittner recorded five aces and senior Ashlie Kaun had four kills and three aces.


Royals grab set, but fall to Braham

Royalton bounced back after dropping the first set to take a narrow second 26-24, but visiting Braham snared the final pair to earn a four-set win in Tuesday’s season opener.

Seniors Abby Duevel and Hayley Gottwalt each floored eight kills, with senior Haley Olson setting up the offense with 24 assists.

Junior Olivia Gall contributed six kills and four blocks, with junior Kayla Eli and sophomore Lanae Sieben adding three kills apiece.

Senior Jenna Skajewski dug out a team-high 13 shots.
