Beginning a week of events for the 2014 homecoming with the theme “Royal Flush,” Swanville chose its homecoming royalty. Swanville will kick off homecoming week with coronation in the high school auditorium at 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 21. On Monday, the dress up day is “Would you still be my friend if I dressed like this?” On Tuesday, the dress up day is Rodeo or Rodéo. Tuesday evening varsity volleyball will battle at Osakis. Wednesday is class color day. The classes will spend the afternoon competing in homecoming Olympics. This has become a tradition were classes compete against each other in relay races and other quirky events to determine a champion. Thursday is generation day. Seniors will dress as senior citizens, juniors will dress as middle aged, sophomores will dress as college students, freshmen will dress as a pre-teenager and junior high will dress as infants or toddlers. Thursday evening Swanville will host the Long Prairie Grey Eagle Thunder for volleyball. Friday, everyone will show their school spirit for spirit day. The homecoming football game is in Upsala at 3:30 p.m., with the USA football team hosting the Royalton Royals. The homecoming dance will be in the Swanville High School commons area Friday evening, from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. with Redneck Radio as the deejay.
