Royalton-Upsala has a new wrestling coach at the helm, as Terry Gorecki takes over for longtime coach Kevin Presler.
“We as a program want to build on the success that coach Presler has been able to establish,” Gorecki said.
Royalton-Upsala returns four state entrants from a year ago in Kyle Lange, Michael Petron, Brad Kroll and Brady Moulzolf.
Gorecki believes the Royals can use their youth to their advantage, and expects all wrestlers from 7-12 to step up this year.
The schedule will be new, as it will balance individual and team tournaments with duals.
Gorecki said he expects Pierz, Aitken and Blackduck-Cass Lake to be at the top of the mix for the section on Feb. 13.
“Maybe the young Royals will be somewhere in the mix,” Gorecki said.
The Royals lost state champion Mitch Lange from a year ago, who will be tough to replace.
They went 9-9 in duals and 3-1 in conference duals.
