Holdingford’s wrestling team put together about as dominating a performance as is possible with an 83-0 clobbering of Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.
The Dec. 18 dual was a blowout with the Huskers being led by senior Nathan Brinker, who is ranked in state.
The Huskers followed that up with a big trip to the Big Bear Tournament at Cass Lake-Bena.
Holdingford finished in 25th place out of 37 teams in the tournament, which featured 62 state-ranked wrestlers.
Zach Scott had the best finish for the Huskers in fourth place with a 5-2 record. The wins also gave Scott 150 career victories for Holdingford.
Nolan Prokott had a 3-2 finish on the day, and Taylor Nitz, Tony Kierstead and Walker Nienaber each had two wins.
“The Big Bear was a good experience for us and there was a lot of good competition,” said Holdingford head coach Logan Oellien.
Next up for the Huskers is a tournament in Foley Jan. 3.
