Rhonda Heurung, a registered nursing assistant at Little Falls Health Services, has been named the March Employee of the Month by Little Falls Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Service Committee.
Heurung said she was “stunned” to be receiving the award.
“I’m just doing my job the way it should be done,” she said.
Heurung said that for her, this means taking the time to talk to residents, and more importantly, listen and get to know them.
“I love helping the people I take care of and spending time with them,” Heurung said. Her favorite part, she added, is interacting one-on-one with residents, joking around, hearing about their lives and getting to know what makes them happy.
Heurung’s dedication and enthusiasm shows, as residents often ask her if she’ll be the one helping them on a given day.
“I like Rhonda because she’s the most pleasant,” said resident Dorothy Sjoberg. “When you need something, you get it with Rhonda.”
Residents aren’t the only one taking notice of Heurung’s compassion and outgoing personality.
“Rhonda is a shining star,” said her supervisor, RN Director of Nursing Laura Stumpf. “She goes above and beyond expectations … residents’ lives are better because of Rhonda’s commitment to service, years of experience and dependability.”
Heurung said she has worked at Little Falls Health Services for the past 15 years, but has also been there off and on since she was 15, starting in a maintenance position.
“Little Falls Health Services is honored to have Rhonda as part of our team,” Stumpf said.
When not at work, Heurung enjoys spending time with her three children Joshua, 24, Shiann, 13, and Madison, 9. She also likes to draw and cross-stitch, although she said she doesn’t have much spare time.
For being named the Employee of the Month, Heurung will receive flowers from Coborn’s, Falls Floral and Northern Image Landscaping, a cookbook from St. Gabriel’s Health Hospice Program, salon services from Fresh Hair Professionals and a photo taken by Silker Studios, as well as gift certificates from the following businesses: Service Master, Fitness Connection, Lindbergh Historic Site, Burger King, The Gumdrop Tree, Vacuum Cleaner Center and Outlet, Pizza Ranch, Franciscan Sisters, West Side Bar, Subway and Domino’s.
